Granburys Newest Downtown Dessert Spot
Have you heard of the newest dessert spot to hit downtown Granbury? Cheesecake Nation has finally opened its doors, and sits just off the Historic Granbury Square, by Pearl Street Station. This shop is more than just a cheesecake shop, though. We had the chance to talk to Jason Walker, co-owner and cheesecake mastermind. Walker shed some light on the beginnings of this business, what got him here and also is philanthropic plans to give back to the Granbury community.
Walker credits the start of his cheesecake-making days to numerous things. But enough people finally told Walker that what he has going is good. Numerous people have mentioned that these cheesecakes belong on the show “Shark Tank,” and in the near future, they hope to be partnered with Philadelphia Cream Cheese! Yeah, they’re that delish. Walker has partnered with a family that approached him at Stonewater Church in Granbury, Texas, and helped him start his local business.
“You name it, we can make it. We can make over 125 different cheesecake flavors, but if you have an idea that I haven’t made, we’ll do it,” Walker said. “We use fresh fruit and fresh ingredients in all of our desserts, I’m pretty picky about that!”
Walker told us about his plans to partner with Meals on Wheels this fall and hopefully bring the community together for a Thanksgiving meal given to those in need. As these plans come together, they’re still looking for people to make this happen. Contact Walker here to contact them get involved.
“I was homeless five years ago, and told myself that would never happen again,” Walker said. “I want to give back to the people that need it. Hopefully, we can do a Christmas gift drop, too!”
Not only is Cheesecake Nation stepping up to make a difference in the community, but they sure are good at what they do. Cheesecakes.
We got to try their Pistachio and “Skinny Girl” cheesecake. This cheesecake is made for those with Diabetes and also those trying to watch their calorie intake. It’s only 20 calories and 1 gram of sugar. And, it’s GOOD.
“We’ve tested our low-sugar cheesecake with serious diabetics and it didn’t raise their blood sugar,” Walker said. “This one took me years to get the taste just right!”
There are many reasons to stop into Granbury’s newest dessert joint, one of which being its great location in the heart of downtown Granbury. It’s a great way to wrap up your evening around the Square with friends or family.
“Come on in after you’re done with your night on the Square. Grab a coffee, truffle, tea or cheesecake. Hopefully, we’ll have sandwiches in the near future,” Walker said. “We’re open ‘till 9 p.m. However, I’ve learned through the restaurant business about good service, and I know Granbury people want something open late. If people are here past 9 and having a good time, I’m not kicking them out. They can stay as late as they want.”
Cheesecake Nation has definitely created the perfect atmosphere out back. With a stage for live music and ample seating, it’s the perfect place to kick back downtown, with a tasty cheesecake or two. (Or three!)
Head into the shop soon for a couple of specials, or call them to ask what specials they have going on at the time. For a limited time, write a good review on Facebook, show them, and you’ll get a free cheesecake. This is definitely the new place to try out in Granbury, Texas.
