“Although there are tons of picturesque jewels that make up the Lone Star State, very few of them have the bragging rights of Granbury.”

We couldn’t agree more! Recently, Southern Living, a widely-read lifestyle magazine that focuses on Southern culture, lifestyle and travel, posted a piece titled “10 Must-Visit Spots in Granbury, Texas.” The list included some of Granbury’s most famous spots, and popular activities that we know so well. We loved the article, and also the recognition from the highly reputable magazine. In fact, most of what made their list are our favorite spots in Granbury, too.

  1. Historic Granbury Square – Southern Living’s list kicks off #1 with the Historic Downtown Granbury Square, which has the distinct honor of being the first downtown area in the state of Texas listed on the National Register of Historic Places. On top of that, over 60 lodging, shopping and dining venues call the Square home. You could say it’s kind of a big deal.

  2. Revolver Brewing – Every Saturday, Revolver Brewing opens to the public from 12-3 p.m. For only $10, you get a souvenir glass, four beer tastings, live music and more. Take a free tour of the facilities and learn how Revolver Brewing began, and how the delicious brews are made right here in Granbury, Texas!

  3. Brazos Drive-In Theatre – Built in 1952, this iconic landmark in Granbury holds lasting memories with a lot of folks from all around Texas. Being one of the few drive-ins in Texas, this place is a must-see. We have more details on our blog here.

  4. Granbury Opera House – You’re in luck! In May, two different performances will be presented by the Granbury Theatre Company. From May 5-7, “Walk Like A Man” will take the stage, a wonderful tribute to Franki Valli and the Four Seasons. From May 12-28, see “A Few Good Men” on the Granbury Opera House stage.

  5. Lake Granbury Marina – What would Granbury, Texas, be without the famous Lake Granbury? Stop by the Marina for water rentals, or some delicious food at the notorious Stumpy’s Lakeside Grill before you head out on the lake!

To see the rest of Southern Living’s #6-10 locations, head on over to their article here.

If you’re like us, some of these spots hold lasting memories from way-back-when. We’ve gone one step further than Southern Living’s list of spots, giving you five of OUR must-visit spots in our favorite little town. We do kind-of consider ourselves experts on everything Granbury.

  1. Willie and Dick’s Grill – Not only is Willie and Dick’s the winner of Small Town Granbury’s Small Town Showdown: Best Burger, but since it’s beginning in 2005, they’ve had loyal restaurant fans that rave about their burgers. Yup, they’re that good.

  2. Granbury City Park – On the corner of Pearl Street and Park Street, you’ll find the City Park, the city’s largest park with multiple facilities for all ages, including the Dana Vollmer Municipal Swim Center.

  3. Granbury Live – Located on the Granbury Square, the Granbury Live building is going through some big remodeling, and will soon open back up for entertainers and various entertainment! The Celebration Hall next door is currently open for activities!

  4. Granbury City Beach – The City Beach lies just off the Granbury Square and has hundreds of feet of sand leading into Lake Granbury, and is perfect for the whole family. With covered seating, this is definitely an awesome summer-spot.

  5. D’Vine Wine – Whether you’re stopping in for a tasting or just to grabbing a bottle for home, D’Vine Wine is the place to go! Sitting right on the Square, D’Vine Wine prides themselves on making their own wines! You can even customize your blend and label, too.

Like Southern Living put it so well, “where else in the South can you seemingly walk back through time to experience the old Texas revolution and dinosaurs? If you’re looking for a quiet getaway with just enough mystery to keep things interesting, head to Granbury for your next weekend escape.”

For you Granbury dwellers, we hope this list helped you appreciate this small town we love so much a little more, and give you some ideas for your next night out. For out-of-towners, hopefully this piece made you want Granbury as your next getaway spot! It truly is such a unique place. Why wait? We’d love to have you.
